Vienna to Budapest: Organ works of Brahms, Liszt and Bruckner
Christ Church Cathedral’s brilliant Director of Music, Peter Guy, in his last solo recital at the Cathedral, before he departs for Europe to undertake further study. Peter will perform a program that explores all the colours of the organ, including the world premiere of a new transcription for organ by John Phillips. Always a lunchtime favourite during the Festival!
Themed Viennese-style food (think sausage and soup) will be on sale from noon.
Australian musicologist and composer Dr John Phillips will give a pre-concert talk about his organ transcription of the Finale of Bruckner's 9th Symphony, prior to the performance. All welcome.
