Mozart's Clarinet | Newcastle Music Festival

The 2023 Festival comes to a brilliant conclusion with Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Concerto played by virtuoso clarinettist, Mitchell Berick, with Christ Church Camerata, conducted by David Banney.

In this Newcastle Music Festival Finale, Mitchell Berick, Principal Clarinet of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, returns home to Newcastle to play one of the most popular works of all time – Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Concerto. The concert begins with an effervescent symphony by the French-Creole violinist and composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a contemporary of Mozart whose music and personality captivated Parisian audiences. The program closes with two American works – Barber’s intensely moving Adagio for Strings, and Jessie Montgomery’s brilliant Starburst.

This concert is presented by Newcastle Herald.
