Clipper Round the World Race Stopover

A biennial event of epic proportions sees 11 boats circumnavigate the globe in 46 weeks in this test of endurance. These 11 vessels and their crew will be stopping in Newcastle.

On the 6th and 7th of January, spectators will be able to view the vessels, kids can try sailing for free, and become engaged in the sailing atmosphere. During this time, the crew and their families will disperse and engage with experiences unique to the Hunter Valley.

Finally, on the 10th of January, enjoy the spectacle from midday as the boats prepare for the next leg of their journey. These behemoths will parade their flags along the harbour before finally raising sail they perform their final checks. At 3 pm, the firing of the Fort Scratchley cannon will signal the start of the race!
