The Olive Tree Market Christmas Market Festival

The Olive Tree Market Christmas Market Festival

Saturday 2nd December 9:00am - 3:00pm

Categories: Featured Events

Get ready for the biggest market of the year! Newcastle’s longest running independent art & design market will bring Civic Park to life with the annual Christmas Market Festival on December 2nd. We have sourced some of the best talent Newcastle has to offer as well as well-known designers from around the country. Get ready to discover the work of 200 creative stallholders, delicious food and drinks, artist workshops, live music, and free kids’ activities.

Shop local & handmade!

Apart from the sheer enjoyment of wandering Civic Park and chatting with artists and stallholders on a balmy Saturday in Summer, The Olive Tree Markets also encourages shopping local. There are so many reasons to shop local – unique gift ideas, supporting local artists, championing creative talent, finding a Christmas party dress that you won’t see on three other people… the list is endless! Shopping at the market also helps build a sense of community. You can get to know the people who are making the products you’re buying, hear their recommendations, and contribute to social enterprise.

Market founder Justine Gaudry says, ‘We seek to encourage creativity, to connect, inspire and empower the creative community; this is always at the heart of what we do at Olive Tree. We encourage the community of Newcastle to shop local and handmade this Christmas season at The Olive Tree Market; to support creative and innovative small businesses and enjoy shopping and participating in an exciting community focused environment.’

A hub of creativity

On December 2nd come and say hi to local, unique artists like Publisher Textiles, whose hand screen printed fashion features prints by indigenous artist from remote Aboriginal communities, ceramicists Clay Canoe, original illustrations and water colours by well-regarded emerging artist Kiasmin Burrell, stunning contemporary embroidery and embroidery kits from Madi Astolfi  of Unpicking, who has developed a cult following for her work, and who will also be running a workshop on the day, and prints from Trevor Dickinson, you may know his vibrant murals from around Newcastle, unique sculpture succulent planters by Dogswood Botanical Alchemy and grooming products for the beaded and shaved gentleman by The Mister Brand.

With 200 stalls on December 2nd, market-goers are spoiled for choice!
