Industry Grants

The grant provides opportunities for industry to implement tourism recovery marketing campaigns aimed at driving immediate demand and bookings for Sydney and Regional NSW products and experiences during Winter/Spring 2021.

Destination NSW will match dollar-for-dollar between $10,000 and $50,000 for tourism operators, local tourism organisations and councils to deliver marketing activities to promote visitor experiences, attractions, tours and accommodation.

In support of Sydney’s business events industry impacted by COVID-19, BESydney will be administering the NSW Government's Kickstart 2021 Sydney Business Events Fund. Under changes to the fund – Newcastle, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith LGAs will also be eligible for to apply.

Funding is available to event organisers of business events that attract 50 or more delegates to a public venue in the Greater Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong areas for a gathering of at least one day’s duration, to be held between now and 31 December 2021.

Funding up to $45,000 for one-day events and up to $90,000 for two-day events, matched dollar-for-dollar by event organisers.

Industry Opportunities

A pilot program includes a deep business assessment, followed by one on one mentoring sessions tailored for the specific business needs. Program runs from Sep 2020 – Feb 2021.

The 15 participants include:
Baked Uprising, Blackbutt Reserve, Christ Church Cathedral, CoastXP, Earp Distilling Co, Mitch Revs Gallery, Newcastle Afoot, Newcastle Backroad Tours, Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, Newcastle Ghost Tours, Newy Rides, Nova Cruises Pty Ltd, The Lock-Up, Underground Epicureans and Urban Hum.

The Product Development Mentoring Program is being funded as part of the City’s Community and Economic Resilience Package and builds on other industry-based support including more than $500,000 in Industry Response Program grants developed in collaboration with the City Taskforce.

Destination NSW delivers the NSW First program to assist tourism businesses around the State to develop, promote and sell their tourism products. It includes face to face workshops and online webcasts that offer ‘how-to’ insights on a range of topics for the tourism industry, with events to be added to the calendar throughout the year.

The Business Centre brings together government and non-government agencies, banks and financial services providers, mental health and well-being providers, to offer support and provide information, and services, that lead to sustainability and job creation, to small businesses during and after COVID-19.
