Tomaree Walks

A great way to start the day - revitalise your senses with an early morning walk along picturesque trails with stunning panoramic views. Tomaree National Park is an interesting geological find with a variety of scenic walks to suit every ability. The most popular walk is up the south face of the Tomaree headland. From the summit, you will enjoy uninterrupted views as far as the eye can see Seal Rocks, Newcastle and inland across the Tomaree Peninsular and Port Stephens.


Dolphin Watch Cruises

Port Stephens is proudly the Dolphin Capital of Australia. Some 140 bottlenose dolphins permanently reside in the waters. Cruises depart the Marina at different times throughout the day and night, dependant on the season. Bookings can be made through the Concierge.


Surf School

Let the friendly staff at Anna Bay Surf School guide you through the thrills and spills of surfing. Qualified instructors will guide you through the basic steps of one of Australia’s greatest lifestyle sports for people of all fitness levels and abilities. Horse Riding

Just 15 minutes from Shoal Bay Resort & Spa, you can ride along the beach, or meander along a bush trail. Enjoy traveling through some of the untouched closed forests and spectacular sand dunes. Tours are available for riders of all ages and abilities.



Time out for a paddle, this sea kayak experience is a great way to get away from it all, whilst enjoying the tranquil, crystal clear waterways of Port Stephens. Get up close and personal with nature in a safe yet exhilarating environment for your ultimate sea kayaking experience.

Boat Hire

What better way to experience Port Stephens than from the water upon your very own luxury day boat or small hire boat. Drop a line or snorkel along our beautiful shores. No Boat Licence necessary. This is a blue water paradise that must be experienced and savoured.


Hummer Tours

Rumble across the sand dunes, or explore what Port Stephens has to offer aboard your own Hummer experience. The Port Stephens area has become known as Sydney's Playground, with expansive waterways and an extensive range of unique outdoor leisure activities.


Sand Dune Quad Biking

Fun in the Stockton Sand Dunes - What a better way to enjoy the largest coastal moving sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere than on an eco friendly quad bike! With dunes as high as 30 metres, and unique sites such as the 'Sygna', the largest ship ever to be wrecked along the East Coast of Australia and WWII defence lines, this adventure will have a lasting impression.


Port Stephens Golf Courses

Surrounded by international standard courses, golfers can choose from Pacific Dunes (18 holes), Horizons (18 holes), Nelson Bay (27 holes) and Newcastle Golf Club (18 holes), all within 40 minutes of the resort. To experience more of the area, keen golfers are encouraged to take the 40 minute ferry journey to Tea Gardens and enjoy the Hawks Nest course (18 holes).

Helicopter Experience

Enjoy the fantastic views as you fly along the spectacular coast line in the luxury of your own Helicopter; view the magnificent Stockton Sand Dunes, and the blue water paradise of Port Stephens. Perhaps you might like to stop over for lunch at the wineries or the opportunity to fly your own helicopter.


Whale Watching

During the whale season of June to October, more than 5000 whales pass by Port Stephens on their annual migration north to the warmer waters to breed. On rare occasions the whales have been known to come inside the bay and swim in the warm waters in front of the resort.
