Dining and Entertainment
A cool food scene has emerged as Newcastle shifts from steel to style. There are four main dining precincts to explore in the inner city:
- Darby Street in Cooks Hill
A diverse, friendly, relaxed bohemian precinct. Darby Street successfully combines cafe culture with galleries and boutique shopping.
- The Harbour waterfronts including Honeysuckle
Working wharves are becoming places of play with the creation of foreshore promenades and open squares offering waterfront cafes and restaurants - all with glorious views.
- Beaumont Street in Hamilton
Home to Newcastle’s first Italian and Greek arrivals, there is a strong Mediterranean focus with many sidewalk cafes and a thriving pub-scene.
- The Junction
An up market shopping precinct with a smattering of first class restaurants and cafes to relax in.
