Foodies DelightThis delicious ride meanders through the main dining and entertainment precincts in Newcastle. It caters for all tastes and pockets.
Begin the ride at Newcastle’s popular Nobbys Beach where you can ride the Breakwall between the surf and the harbour; enjoying the fresh sea air and the great views of the city skyline. Follow the coast on to Newcastle Beach, making sure to stop by the Art Deco Newcastle Ocean Baths which were completed in 1922.
From Newcastle Beach, the ride weaves through town and on to Darby Street, one of Newcastle’s popular “eat streets”. Here the city’s hip and happening set gather to dine, drink and shop in style. The atmosphere in Darby Street is relaxed and friendly and the feel funky and cosmopolitan. Close by Darby Street, in Laman Street is the Newcastle Region Art Gallery (arguably the finest regional gallery in Australia) as well as a host of private galleries.
Back on the bike and it’s only a short ride to The Junction, one of Newcastle’s premier shopping precincts, offering a colourful mix of cafes, restaurants and chic boutiques.
Then it’s on to Hamilton and its multicultural main thoroughfare, Beaumont Street, where you will find just about every type of cuisine imaginable. Tempt your tastebuds with a meal or maybe grab a short black and explore the treasure trove of shops.
After a relaxing break, head back to Nobbys via Throsby Creek cycleway past the Fisherman’s Co-op & Newcastle Marina and the newly fashionable harbourside suburbs of Maryville and Wickham with their unique brand of urban chic.
